The Benin Kingdom, never involved in transatlantic slaves trade.

ANOTHER FACT ABOUT BENIN KINGDOM.

Benin was the first to stop slave trade 300yrs before the world did.
Take time to read this the more reason we should be grateful to our ancestors most specially our spiritual and traditional rulers both past and present for the love they had showed for the people in the territories they have traditional and divine sovereignty to govern.
It will please you to know that Ọba of Benin was the first to abolished slave trade and put embargoes on it even when the whole world especially the so call world economy and super power today was basing their economy power on slave trade to survived.
The Ọba of Benin protected his people with all the resources and military strength available to make sure none of his people was capture and sold into slavery.
Upon not involved in this evil trade Benin kingdom was economically balanced and flourished in wealth creation. There wasn’t a single person or group of people who went hungry for one single day, no suffering in the land nor sicknesses as a result of not having enough.
Benin kingdom set up a standard for the world that a nation can survive without slave trade, even the Portuguese abandoned their commercial trade with Benin kingdom and go into slave trade, Benin kingdom also let the world know that a nation can survive by auto production i:e without depending on another nation to survive.
Recently we all witness another abolishment of modern day slavery by His Royal Majesty Ọmọ ‘n Ọba nẹ ẹdo Uku’ Akpọlọkpọlọ, Ọba Ẹware ll the Ọba of Benin, modern slavery or call it human trafficking are alien to the Benin. Enemies brought this Edoland and lure our sisters and brothers into it, making them to believed that that’s the only way to be economically balance.
We know who are the slaves and the slaves merchant in Nigeria. Benin kingdom has been antislavery right from the onset.
If they (our ancestors) can do it many years ago we can do it too because their blood flows in our veins. Let protect and preserve our land(wherever The Great Benin Descendants possessed as their land of inheritance), cultures, traditions, history, customs, education for generations to come against any invaders be it foreign or local neighbor.
